Maryknoll Online was created in the Spring of 2001 by Sezar Ercan, a student and close associate of Dr. Miguel Ponce. It is a queried-database software system customized for the use of the AIECSRL. Sezar used the MySQL and PHP languages to create a web-based database system that could be readily updated through a web interface. Ampar V. Shetty, another close associate of Dr. Ponce, entered the initial 400+ data sets included in the database. The name "Maryknoll" was selected because many of the people included in the database identified with the name and, thus, it could be easily remembered. The database is used for the purpose of connecting Santa Rosa de Lima alumni living outside of Peru, so that we may remember our roots as we spread our wings around the world. As with any other database, Maryknoll Online is only as good as its contents. Please help keep the database current by e-mailing updates to the database manager.
